So instead of one project, we are cutting them into smaller pieces, and calling the series "Conversations on Flipping English" - and the first one is finished.
In this video, we describe what we see as the two types of flipped videos (click on the title for an example we've provided of each):
1. Content Videos - teaches content, is often direct instruction put on video
2. Process Videos - teaches a process, such as writing, reading, thinking or speaking
Now, we do not believe that you must use video to flip your class. We believe that it is a tool to be used in flipped classes, but that it is up to the teacher to decide how to best use that tool.
We also advocate for using a combination of both, but if you are flipping English, we advocate for process videos playing a prominent role in your flipped class.
We will be finishing up and posting the rest of the conversation series as it finishes. We hope it is helpful to you as you build or reflect on your flipped class.
If there are topics you'd like us to cover in subsequent conversations, let us know by leaving a comment. We will do our best to comply. :-)
